AAEC and the Year 2000 Problem

Y2K

What is the Year 2000 (Y2K) Problem?

Many computer systems use software that tracks dates with only the last two numbers of the year, such as 97 instead of 1997. When 00 comes up for the year 2000, many computers will view it as 1900 instead, potentially leading to failures in business, transportation, utilities, and other services.

How AAEC is Prepared

Y2K can affect many components of a network, not simply the computer you are sitting in front of. AAEC has analyzed all of its hardware and related software to ensure minimal interruptions on January 1st, 2000.

Will Your Account(s) Be Affected?

The engineers at AAEC have researched all possible sources for problems concerning Y2K and are certain that AAEC will not be directly disabled due to the problem.

However, any user of a network (i.e., the Internet) should be aware that equipment further down the line that is affected can also affect that user. This is not an insurmountable problem, since the Internet "plumbing" also relies on redundant paths to the same information. While it may taken longer due to heavily re-routed traffic, most data should get through successfully.
